Projects
I have been involved in research projects focusing on knowledge graphs, artificial intelligence, and data privacy.
AI:HealthData 2026 – ongoing
We investigate how unstructured health records can be turned into actionable knowledge by combining AI and knowledge graphs to extract and organise clinical data for efficient analytics and trustworthy patient summaries.
HEREDITARY 2024 – ongoing
We investigate privacy-preserving federated analytics by combining knowledge graphs and medical data to support the study of brain and gut–brain diseases.
Knowledge Graphs and GNNs for Protein Analysis 2023
We explored how knowledge graphs and graph machine learning can be combined to analyse protein data and support biological discovery, in collaboration with Biogenity.
Privacy-Preserving Stream Analytics 2017 – 2021
We developed privacy-preserving stream analytics methods to process large-scale data in real time, with applications in media platforms and radio astronomy.
Social Effects of Artificial Intelligence 2018 – 2020
We contributed to a multidisciplinary study on the societal impact of artificial intelligence across domains including education, ethics, law, media, and technology.
INDENICA 2011 – 2012
We contributed to the design of goal-oriented requirements engineering methods and tools for Platform-as-a-Service systems, including the development of the IRENE language and IRET editor.
PlanetData 2011 – 2012
We explored how games with a purpose can improve data quality, developing Urbanopoly to enhance geographic data in smart city applications.
PANDORA 2010 – 2012
We investigated how semantic web technologies can support the construction of knowledge bases for simulation-based learning systems.
LarKC 2008 – 2011
We applied Semantic Web techniques to urban data, enabling the collection, analysis, and modelling of city information for applications such as traffic prediction and recommendation systems.
SOA4All 2009 – 2011
We developed knowledge-based recommender systems for Web services, combining semantic technologies with collaborative and content-based approaches.
Service Finder 2009 – 2010
We investigated user profiling and recommendation techniques to support service discovery in Web service platforms.
